Diplomasi Publik Qatar Melalui Penyelenggaraan Piala Dunia FIFA Tahun 2022

Abstract

This research discusses the public diplomacy carried out by Qatar to maintain the country’s economic flow. In the 1970s to early 2000s, the oil boom phenomenon was discovered in the Middle East Region. One of them is that oil and gas resources were discovered in Qatar so that the country of Qatar became an oil and gas exporting country. This has been going on for several years until oil and gas prices have fluctuated and forced Qatar to reduce its dependence on income generated from oil and gas exports. One of the Qatar Government’s efforts is to diversify sources of income by increasing foreign investment. In order to increase the flow of incoming foreign investment, the Qatar government is also carrying out public diplomacy practices by holding the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup football match in 2022. The results of the study show that this has had a positive impact both directly and indirectly on the country of Qatar.
